Japanese Zen Garden Design & Installation
Create an Asian oasis of Zen calm. Your Japanese garden landscape may include a lantern, waterfalls, bridges, stones and sand used in traditional design where each element of the garden has a specific purpose and use.

Japanese Design
Green Giant can design a traditional Japanese garden beginning with the “light of knowledge” provided by stone lanterns. These garden components rose to prominence with the advent of tea ceremonies.

Zen Garden
Often employed as part of a Japanese landscape, Zen gardens offer space for private meditation and retreat. They may include raked sand and stones or simply a secluded corner in which to enjoy some peace.

Plant Selection
Japanese gardens include a unique mix of plants from various pines (often pruned to maintain miniature structure) to maples, lotus, irises, horsetail, cherry and crabapple trees. We can plant your favorites to fit our local climate.
Zen & Japanese Inspired Outdoor Spaces
Elements of Japanese Gardens
Japanese gardens and Zen-inspired landscapes may include a number of traditional elements. The result of a beautiful design is a well-structured space, providing a sense of calm, beauty, clean lines, and lack of clutter. We’d be happy to work with you to find the right balance of components for your budget and space. Japanese Zen gardens may include:
- Waterfalls and ponds, stocked with koi or carp
- Stone and raked sand pathways and “dry” lakes
- Bridges and teahouses to connect garden “rooms”
- Stone lanterns, housing the “light of knowledge”
- Pines, miniature to large
- Maples, available in array of species with foliage from red to deep green
- Bamboo
- Lotus, for your pond or lake
- Crabapple and cherry trees, for beautiful spring blossoms

Erick Ruiz
Not only does Green Giant perform bi-annual trimming of bushes and trees for us, but they also make sure our irrigation system works as it should. Jordan knows the plants of this valley and he often makes recommendations for plants and flowers that we follow and then enjoy the results! Great landscaping service!
